Speakers 2016

This year we seek to stir up the hornet’s nest with lectures loaded with counterculture and a great dose of entrepreneurship, self-management and avant-garde design. Champions of some era: past, present or future. We will announce the protagonists for this 16th edition in stages. A select group that makes us prouder every time we think of it.

Adrian Dargelos

Adrián Dárgelos

Argentine

All of us were hypnotized by the first videos of Argentinean rock band “Babasónicos”. Benito Scorza, its Italian director, understood a generation’s visual code and translated it into audiovisual journey experiences. Years later the mystery was unveiled: Scorza was Adrián D´Argelo’s (the band’s singer) alter ego. Adrián will visit TRImarchi to talk about this subject and his more than 20 videos as director and to open a discussion about esthetic cannons. That same night, in Teatro Roxy, Mar del Plata, the band will perform a very special show which will revisit, with an unusual orchestra, it’s 25 years of life. …

In the 70’s, Chris managed to go from trains to his own atelier. He’s a graffiti pioneer who also shared exhibitions with Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring. He never neglected the streets: his public art can be seen from Rio de Janeiro to Hong Kong. And his works can be seen from the MoMa to Madonna’s private collection. After Martha Cooper’s flawless lecture in TRImarchi, we needed a first-hand experience, a live documentary. In October, Daze will give a master lecture, for the first time in Argentina. www.dazeworld.com

Coco Cerrella

Argentine

While his career is broad and he has designed for many international clients, we were immediately attracted by his teaching side, specifically, his classes in the Educación en Cárceles UBA XXII (Teaching in Prison, National University of Buenos Aires) program. This design workshop in the Devoto jail led him to improve his social designer side. We feel there’s a lot to learn from his way of facing everyday life, where he tries to show that graphic design can also build bridges and shape a fairer world. www.coco.com.ar

A little boy born amidst straw and adobe huts in the high Andean plateaus, forever a builder and an incurable worker, shows his face to the world as the new mentor of Neoandean architecture. A small pencil and any piece of paper have been enough to project and capture the beautiful palaces of the city of El Alto. Earth, sand, concrete, pottery, plaster, multicolored paint, shovels and picks are part of his life. Neil Harbisson & Moon Ribas

United Kingdom / Spain - In collaboration with the British Council

Neil Harbisson British cyborg artist and activist. He’s was the first person in the world to be recognized as a cyborg by a government and the first to have an antenna implanted in his head. Having been born with achromatopsia, Neil was only able to see black, white and gray, but he found a way to balance this with the antenna, which lets him listen to colours and even feel some invisible colours, like infrareds and ultraviolets. From there, he developed a synesthetic theory of colour and sound that we could not miss out here in TRImarchi. www.harbisson.com   Moon …

Penny Rimbaud

United Kingdom - In collaboration with British Council

Each movement has a parent. In 1977, Penny Rimbaud created CRASS, the band that would provide anti-establishment grounds to punk music. We learnt the self-management skills that allowed us to start these events from him, through his local ambassadors: Patricia’s fairs, Nekro’s shows, Dekadencia G’s library, Tester and his HTM. Everything reminded us of Penny at some point, and we applied that to our actions. He would also found learning spaces, promoting values of environmentalism, self-management, animal rights and freedom of thought. The DIY ethics and its emblematic supports: stencil and fanzine. Penny Rimbaud’s visit to Argentina is historic; it …

A nomadic spirit renews the drive that brings them to TMDG this October. Zosen and Mina Hamada are two visual artists, one from Argentina, and the other from Japan, who currently reside in Barcelona. Their passion for colors and free shapes drove them to collaborations in murals of different formats. Their …
